Review : Taking Hearts
My Thoughts
When I think of a great science fiction story, I think of something big and imaginative, something that moves me and inspires me and surprises me, something that takes me into unfamiliar worlds and takes me on a thrill-ride that spans the universe. And this story is all that and more!Alex is a protagonist of the story. By reading the initial few pages, I was really confused about the characters and the event. Also, I wasn't able to follow the character names. All that I understood was the characters were facing some kind of danger. Later when the chapters began, everything came fine. Alex was being dumped by his girlfriend for reasons he's not aware of. Heart broken Alex joined a group called heart takers and then later become a soul taker. I really adore the friendship between Alex and Aiden.
This book is engaging regardless of the reader's familiarity with the genre. I couldn't put it down once I started it. It's a thrill ride, and I have no reason to think others won't have the same experience. Every chapter was full of shocks and revelations, and even when I thought I understood where it was going, it managed to surprise me.
I've seen that Dante Vereen excels at placing the reader in the main character's shoes. We recognise his suffering, comprehend his decisions, and respect the complexity of his conundrums. I find myself wondering what I would do if faced with such difficult options. Would I be able to make the necessary sacrifices to complete the task at hand? I'd like to believe so, and it's undoubtedly a thought worth exploring.
You may have noticed that I haven't included much of the story in this review. It's because I don't want to spoil anything and whatever small information I write can be a spoiler. This book is intriguing and thought provoking.
