The Lost Lands: The Horn's Hoax
My Thoughts
"The Lost Lands: The Horn's Hoax" by Hector Cantu Kalifa is the second book from The Horn's Hoax series. I would say not to read it as a standalone even though a summary is given in this book, because it is very much connected to the first book.
This book welcomes you on an exciting journey with young Moris, his sister Maya, and their mother as they scramble to find a method to rescue Henry from the dark horn before it permanently possesses him. With unexpected discoveries along the way, this quest takes us on a fantastic excursion into the Lost Lands.
By his descriptions, the author mastered the art of bringing the scene to life in a captivating and engrossing way. I was able to thoroughly lose myself in the novel and experience being there with them in the Lost Lands. Similarly, he did a good job of gradually building tension. A really fulfilling experience was produced by the author's excellent use of words in telling the story.
The characters were excellently written. I also enjoyed their relationships with each other, seeing the strength of their bonds and their emotional struggles as they try to navigate their investigation.
