The Acting MD: Review
Blurb
Pranav Rai never wanted to take over his father's company, Pyramid Housing. He wanted to be an actor. But little does he know that he is about to perform the role of a lifetime. The Acting MD is the story of a naïve young man's transformation into the quintessential businessman.
Thrust into the world of Indian real estate, Pranav feels completely lost. This is a high-stakes industry where the rules can be bent or even broken for the right price. From embezzling executives to the corporate giant, The VNM Group, Pyramid has threats all around it. When a hostile takeover seems imminent, Pranav's only way out is Indus City - a township project like nothing else the country has seen before.
But what skill does Pranav, an aspiring actor, possess to run a business? What chance does he stand against the corporate bullies?
My Thoughts
Vikram Mankal's "The Acting MD" is a short, one-time read. Pranav Rai, a young guy with aspirations of becoming an actor, embarks on an unexpected adventure that entangles him in the complex world of Indian real estate, which is the central theme of this captivating book.In the beginning of the narrative, Pranav is reluctant to take over his father's real estate firm, Pyramid Housing, since he wants to become an actor. After his father is involved in an accident that casts doubt on the company's future, Pranav is forced to stand up and take over—that is, to assume a job he never wanted. Pranav faces several obstacles in his first venture into the real estate business, which emphasizes how competitive the sector is. He was hauled down, betrayed by his people, and pillaged, yet he managed to pull it off with perseverance and hard effort. He pursued something he had never wanted to do.
The book imparts a valuable lesson: we can never be certain of our true desires unless we take action and pursue them. Unexpected events in life have the power to shake us out of our comfort zones, test our presumptions, and change the way we think and behave. Giving up on your ambition and entering an uncharted career path is a difficult endeavor that requires a strong will and a large heart.
The book skillfully creates a labyrinth of corporate intrigue and rivalries for power that hold readers' attention the whole time. The way the novel depicts Pranav's metamorphosis is one of its strong points. In this work, the author skillfully strikes a balance between his understanding of corporate affairs and the construction industry. The primary characters are given with appropriate physical and behavioral descriptions.
Overall, a simple but engaging story.
