The Acting MD 2: A Gripping Sequel with Depth

About The Book

More than two years since the launch of Indus City...
Pranav Rai has now firmly cemented his place among the real estate giants, but his journey is far from over.

Pranav prepares to complete his father’s dream of taking Pyramid to an IPO. But Vijender Mehra and Arjun Rai aren’t going to sit back and let him have his win. Pranav will have his hands full, especially with the new variable in the equation – Vetri. His political ambition will make him a natural ally to both Vijender and Arjun. Vetri was born to be a politician. He will be the toughest opponent Pranav has ever faced.

In a world where everyone seems to have ulterior motives, Pranav must question everything and everyone, including himself. Can he take Pyramid to a successful IPO? What is his endgame?

My Thoughts

The Acting MD 2: Everyone Has Ulterior Motives is a compelling sequel to Vikram Mankal's business thriller. The action begins two years into Indus City's operation, and what I was drawn to most is how naturally politics, property, and self-interest converge. Pranav Rai, who began life as a thespian, now thrives in a world where every meeting is a performance and every alliance has an ulterior motive. That blend of theatre and business makes him a fascinating protagonist to follow.

I loved the lavish descriptions of Indus City; it's not a location, but a character in itself, embodying both greatness and the tenuous cost of unbridled ambition. Mankal's writing is fast and operatic, with a pace that matches the high-stakes environment he describes, but he also takes pauses to include just enough detail that the setting feels appropriately real. It's obvious that the author has an eye for making boardroom and politicking appear nearly theatrical. Overall, this book made me consider the way power is as much spectacle as action.
